Basket, flip flops and a home run

Yesterday while in Columbus on some errands Steve and I ran in the thrift stores to see what was new, you know you just never do know what you'll run across there.

I am a collector of Longaberger baskets, you know how there are always tons of baskets in thrift stores, most of the time they are just ole cheap baskets. Well...yesterday Steve was walking ahead of me and he walked past a table full of basket, as I made my way to the table I spotted it! A little Longaberger basket! I'm sure people thought I was crazy but I went up to Steve and shook him and said "hahaha....I found it and you didn't!" It's a small one but that makes it even cuter. And best of all it was only 50 cents! (it is the small basket in this picture)

Today I was in the mood to go shopping for some new shorts and flip flops...I think that is what I love most about warm weather, flip flops! Here are some I found today, the red and gray pair don't show up good in the picture but they're glittery...tooooo cute!

first ever home run, also want to congratulate him on the

$100 he gets from Papa for making that home run......

Our Weekend Home

I wanted to post a few pictures from Molly's hospital stay and our weekend home ....

My sweet husband brought us flowers...he said he thought we'd like a touch of spring in the room, they were pretty to look at.

We hung flower garland on top of the windows and made butterflies out of pipe cleaners to put on the windows.

We like to try to do a little decorating in the room to make it feel a little more homey.

After getting to leave the hospital at 10 am Friday morning we stopped in Tuscaloosa and ate lunch at Olive Garden, Mmmmmm....
After that we went to Kirkland's, we were both too excited about getting home to do much shopping though.
It was really nice to get home, Friday was such a beautiful day. I got to work on dirty laundry as soon as we got home, I had alot from the hospital plus alot Steve and Wes had here for me. Fun fun .....
I did hang the sheets on the clothesline since it was such a pretty day. One of my favorite things is sheets dried outside. I love that fresh smell.

Friday evening we went to New Hope to see my sister's new house .... I'm so excited for them, it's so pretty! Wish I would have remembered to take my camera to take pictures of it, I'll try to do that soon. After seeing her house we went to my parents to visit with them for a little while.
Saturday morning was rainy, we didn't do anything ... I worked on unpacking everything from the hospital and did a little housework.
Again Saturday evening we went to New Hope to my parent's to visit again, my great aunt was there so it was nice to get to visit with her also......
While we were there my dad had me walk around the yard to check out his garden, flowers and trees.....

Wesley and his friend Cole have their race car now ......... another worry for me.

Not much longer now

Boy was yesterday stressful! Molly's iv went bad, that was awful because it was the 3rd one she'd had this stay and she was stuck many more times though trying to get one in. They tried once in each hand last night, each time they'd get the iv in the vein would blow, they finally ended up getting one in her foot! Poor thing ....... I know that has to be so uncomfortable. I hate so bad she has to go through all this crap. Just seems so unfair!
On a happy note though we are getting out of here tomorrow and going home! We can hardly wait! I have been trying to not really think about it or look at the clock today, I knew if I did the day would drag on forever. Thank goodness its gone by pretty fast.
Steve emailed me a couple of pictures last night of our new baby chicks, I thought I would attach a picture for you all to see. Aren't they so cute!

About chickens, I really got a kick out of something a lady up here at the hospital said the other night, I had told her Steve had gone home to take care of things around the house...animals, etc. She asked what we had, I named off everything well when I said chickens she said "CHICKENS!?!?" What do you do with chickens. I explained to her I just liked them. Then she asked if we got eggs....I told her yes, she said which one has the eggs, the rooster or the hen? Ohhhhhhhh goodness! Then today another lady made a comment about some flowers we have in our hospital room, she said she had alot but she said "you have to be careful not to get stung by the hummingbirds because they just love the flowers" I need to take some people to the country and educate them I think, haha!!!! And city people think country people are dumb.....

good news today

This morning when the doctor made his round in Molly's room he said he was "proud as peaches" at how she is doing and he said going home in 10 days would be fine. So Friday we're out of here ........ wooooohoooo!
We can hardly wait.

PFT

We just got back in the room from going for Molly to do her pulmonary function test. Wooooo hoooooo...her numbers were up, she blew a 80/72. Hopefully Friday we will get to go home! Her bottom number was at 57 I believe when we first came in the hospital on the 15th.

Monday

We're still here hanging out in the hospital...
This morning when the doc made his round he said "Molly's lungs sound like a million bucks". That was nice to hear....
Molly's IV went bad today so she had to have another one put in, which is not a fun experience at all! This is her 3rd iv so far this hospital stay, we're praying this one last the rest of her stay. We'll see ....
Also Molly's blood sugar has been really good ... we have really got strict with her since back in January on her soda intake, we stick to mostly diet now...cutting out that sugar has made a great difference I think.
It's 10pm now, Molly just got unhooked so we're gonna take a little walk around the hospital before we hit the sack.
Hopefully only 3 more full days here after today.

another day

We have just about survived another boring day at the hospital. It was nice though that Tiffany and Dustin came to visit, that helped so much. Can't imagine how long the day would have been if they hadn't came.
We all had a nice treat this afternoon...after seeing a Dairy Queen commercial on tv we all decided that would be good so Steve and Dustin went out and got us all treats....Mmmmmmm, it was sure yummy! Now I'm full, lazy and bored.
I guess one happy thought about today is that this time next week we should be back home.....ohhhhh that'll be great.
Amazing how when you spend 10 to 14 days at the hospital when you're released you just feel like a bird out of the cage. We can hardly wait to get home and enjoy spring! I'm so ready to work on flower beds and get our garden started, also to go see those precious new baby chicks we have at home.
We miss all our animals so much when we're away like this, our dogs - Abby, Bear and Lady, our cat - Sarah, Our bunny - Tinkerbelle, the chickens and guppies. Thank goodness my in-laws are kind enough to look after things for us while we're away.

As far as Molly and how things are going with her, the Doctor still says she seems to be doing good...her lungs are still sounding clear. Hopefully these iv antibiotics will raise her PFT's up good, we'll see on Monday or Tuesday when she does a PFT test.

Saturday

Looks like a beautiful Saturday outside, we can only see it by looking out our hospital room window though, maybe a little later we'll go walk around outside for a little while.
We have had a lazy day ... the weekends are that way in the hospital. Molly doesn't have a teacher come around and there is no pt on the weekends. We have just been watching tv and decorating the room a little. Our room is pretty small this go-around but we have a good view, a big bathroom with a door that actually locks, and we're at the very end of the hall so it's pretty quiet, it's sure alot better than being right across from the nurses station. Also our tv is a little 12 inch one BUT it has a real remote and the sound actually comes from the tv and not the nurses call box thingy. Yeaaaaa!
Wish I could upload pictures from my camera on this computer but I guess the pictures will have to wait until we get home.
The doctor came around this morning and said Molly's lungs still sounded great. I can tell she still isn't 100% though, she's still got a little nasty sounding cough.
Dr. Lyrene said he is going to have Molly do the Pulmonary funtion test on Monday or Tuesday, hopefully her pft's will be up by then.

Birmingham

Well as I feared Molly was admitted in the hospital when we came to CF clinic on Wednesday (15th). She is feeling pretty good and the doc says her lungs sound really good....they are just concerned that her lung function had dropped. We will be here until probably the 27th. I will try to post more later with up-dates on Molly and of our stay here at the hospital.

Girls Day Out

We had a girls day out ... Tiffany, Molly and I took a little trip to Tuscaloosa yesterday. We visited several stores searching for the perfect wedding dress for Tiffany's big day coming up in September. Just when you think you've found the one you'll see another one that you like even more, boy it can be so confusing. This dress was so beautiful, we thought it was the one until she tried on another one .... now we're confused all over again.

So hard to believe my baby is getting married, I guess this is me looking in disbelief! haha..

After looking at dresses for a while we went and had lunch at Zaxby's, Mmmm....

It was yummy. From there off to Hobby Lobby we went. Ohhhhh let me tell you, me and Tiffany were in Heaven! I was on a quest to find cute fabric to make an apron, Molly decided she wanted one also so she had to pick out the fabrics she wanted to use. Tiffany did alot of looking at paper, etc. She is planning her own wedding invitations so she's trying to get an idea of exactly what she wants to do. Here's what I ended up getting from Hobby Lobby, my husband should be proud, after shopping so long this is all I ended up buying!

After spending 3 1/2 hrs in Hobby Lobby we were all dragging but still had to take Molly to the mall, she couldn't pass up the chance to go to Claire's and Limited Too ...

Tiffany suggested we stop by Krispy Kreme on our way out of town for some hot donuts. Ohhhhhhhhhh My Goodness! Now I've had doughnuts before but those doughnuts last night were the best I've ever had in my life, never had them hot like that, they just melt in your mouth. I guess it's a good thing we don't have a Hobby Lobby or Krispy Kreme where we live, if I could go more often I'd be broke and fat!

An Old House Place

Yesterday was a pretty nice day, the weather was beautiful and my sweet hubby was off work. We carried a trailer load of stuff to be sold at an antique auction Saturday night, we're keeping our fingers crossed things sell good. We had several items that we got really good deals on so hopefully everything will turn out good. Kind of fun just to see how things turn out in situations like that. You know dealing in antiques is not something we do full time, it is just something we do more for fun and to help support or hobby of buying more antiques.

After we got everything unloaded we decided to take a short detour to a little town in Mississippi called Gattman. We had heard a commercial on the radio for an antique shop there, it was really sad but at least we know next time, not to go there again! We should have known when we pulled up and saw their sign, but you can't really always judge a place by the type of sign they have, still this was pretty bad.

Beside this not-so-great antique shop the local truckers were having an independent truckers strike, there weren't very many participating but either way it's just not something you see every day.

I can understand their point of view, my goodness, as much as some of them are spending on fuel don't see how they make it, no wonder we are seeing such higher prices on everything.

There were still trucks on the road, guess that is a good thing. Could you imagine if all truckers went on strike! We'd be in a mess, wouldn't we!

Coming through Vernon on the way home we noticed a handmade yard sale sign, Steve always says those are the best, so we turn off the main road, of course no yard sale, that sign was probably a few weeks old, really wish people would take down their old signs when their sales are over. It wasn't a bad thing that we turned off the main road though, we were on this little country road and I saw the cutest thing, look at the wisteria growing out of the top of the chimney.

I love old house places and this one was just too cute. I can imagine the family gathered around that fireplace on cold winter days, I can imagine children running around this yard playing. It's really something how homes are pretty much the most important thing in a person's life (other than family) and to see a old place like this really goes to show, it is only material. This may have been a grand home or may have been a really small simple house either way look at her today ....

I once was blind but now I see

Well, I wasn't actually blind but I did get my glasses today and let me tell you, it is totally amazing! I just can't stop saying "Wow"!
It is so hard to believe I went as long as I did without them. I have always thought I could never wear glasses, didn't wanna look different or anything but let me tell you, I don't really care how different I look or what people may think, I'll be wearing them. Such a joy to see so good for a change! I told my husband I feel as though I've been in the dark and someone finally turned on the light so I can see clearly.

A Blahhhh kind of day

Steve was on nights last night and I finally talked Molly into sleeping with me.
It is something how I used to complain about her not wanting to leave our bed (she stayed in our bed until she was 9 yrs old!) Last night made me realize how she's growing up on us ... anyway she did sleep with me. A thunderstorm came through around 2:30 am, ohhhhhhhh my goodness! You wouldn't believe how scared of stormy weather Molly is, I finally got her calmed down, told her I had checked the weather on tv and everything was fine. Of course by the time we got back to sleep good it seemed the alarm clock was going off. Ughhhhh .... So ruff having to get up so early on school mornings, really stinks having to do the breathing treatment but just one of those things. I shouldn't complain at all and I sometimes I do feel guilty for complaining. I should thank the good Lord there are at least meds available for us to use to help her.
I got the kids off to school and pretty much lounged around in my pj's till nearly 1 pm.
I had to go to Millport to the post office so thought I'd do the grocery shopping while I was out and about, so I got a shower and got ready. Isn't it just amazing how getting out of the house even for the simplest things can make you feel so much better, oh it really just cheered me up. I cranked up my radio and sang the whole 15 miles to Millport. Now I really can't sing worth a flip but you let me get in my car alone, ohhhh goodness it's on! haha ...
I had a nice surprise when I got home, my Country Living magazine was in the mailbox. Wooohooooo, I am always so thrilled when it comes. Ohhhh geezzzz maybe I do need to get out more often and get a life if a magazine thrills me!
Well gonna run and check on my tater tot casserole in the oven ... more later.
