Kreativ Blogger Award

My friend Trina gave me this award. Thanks Trina!
The rules are very easy. I tell you seven things I like and then pass it to seven other bloggers for them to do the same. So, here goes!

1. I like waking up to sunshiny mornings. There is just something about waking up to sunshine, seems to just make the whole day so much better
2. I like going places but to be honest to me there is no place like home, I just really like being home in my own little nest.
3. I like receiving phone calls out of the blue from friends. Like last night I was having an issue, then Stacy called and she just automatically helped calm my nerves.
4. I like when Wesley and Molly can get along (which isn't often). There have been times when I have caught them playing the PlayStation together, laughing and talking. That is rare but I like it, wish it could happen more.
5. I really like spending time with my husband, seems no matter what we're doing or where we're going everything is always just fine.
6. I like camping, nothing fancy is involved, everyone can just relax, be themselves and have fun. It's just such a fun thing to do.
7. I like all my bloggy friends and am so thankful for you all. Wow, isn't it something to think of life without computers. How did we all survive back then? hehehe...
OK...so now I get to pass this along to seven of my bloggy friends. They are:
6. Pam
7. Amy
Anyone else who would like to play along certainly can!

Old Aberdeen Cemetery

In my last post I mentioned that we stopped by an old cemetery in Aberdeen, MS. on Sunday. I took pictures of Confederate soldier headstones thinking maybe I could list them on Find A Grave website so family members who may live far away would be able to see a photograph of their ancestors headstone. Well yesterday the Find A Grave website was down for repair, so I thought I'd go to Ancestry (I subscribe to that). I went to message boards browsing through and searching for a few of the surnames. I found who I believed to belong to one of these Soldiers, this particular soldier was in the Texas Calvary. This morning I checked my email and I had a reply from a man in Texas who is the GG grandson of this soldier. He had never seen a photo of the grave site before and said all he knew was his GG grandfather was buried in Aberdeen, Ms. so I was able to provide him with a photo, it felt really good to do that because being such a genealogy nut I would jump for joy if someone contacted me out of the blue with information or a photo of an ancestor of mine. I will also say I got my exercise that day, my legs are so sore from the squatting and getting up taking photos of the headstones, I need to get out and visit cemeteries and take photos more often.

Our Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Friday we ran a few errands around Columbus then decided to head to Aberdeen, MS for supper at the Friendship House restaurant. For those of you who live in the area and have never gone there you should. It is located out in the middle of nowhere but the food is so delicious. They have the best catfish ever!
Steve and I got up Saturday morning and went to Tannehill Trade Days. It was the first flea market of the year. Apparently other people were as excited about the flea market as we were because let me tell you I have never seen such traffic. From the time we turned off the interstate it took us over an hour to get to the park, that part wasn't fun but after we got parked and got to shopping that was fun. You can tell by the pictures, you name it - they have it.

Yesterday afternoon we went to another flea market in Wren, MS. It was nothing compared to Tannehill, on the way home as we were passing through Aberdeen, MS Molly suggested we stop at an old Cemetery. We were glad we did. It was a pretty pretty cemetery, lots of Civil War soldiers buried that. I took lots of pictures but will save the tour of the cemetery for another post.

The most exciting news of the weekend for me was yesterday evening I saw the first hummingbird of the season at one of my feeders.

No Camping This Weekend

What beautiful weather we've had today, and what have I done. Sat inside and mope all day. Our plans for the camping trip this weekend have been canceled which really upsets me because I was looking so forward to it. I feel bad for Molly because I feel like it's been a really crappy spring break for her, she really hasn't got to do anything special or fun. We were looking so forward to going camping and spending time together but that will have to wait for another time I guess.

Camping

Sierra & Molly
We survived our camping trip in the cold rain. I did decide I don't think we'll bother going back in weather like that ever again. We're heading out this Friday again for another attempt, keep your fingers crossed we have nicer weather this time. Here are a few shots from this past weekend.

Me and Dixie walking (you'll have to excuse how I look, I had a slouchy weekend)

Dixie wasn't at all sure what to think about the river, it was up and moving pretty fast so it really got her attention.

Puppy Update

We made it to the Vet and back ok. He said he didn't think Dixie had kennel cough, and her stool didn't show any signs of parasites so that is good. ( I know this is a gross topic but you know with her coming from the pound it is nice to know)
He gave her a shot, he said that should help the bad coughing she'd been doing. Also he gave us a couple of different pills to give her here at home. He said to force feed her gator aid and buttermilk today. She's resting comfortably right now and isn't coughing so that's good. Maybe this afternoon she'll feel alot better and be able to eat something.
It's just raining away and Steve is just leaving to haul the camper to the river to get it set up. I made us a cake this morning to take so if nothing else we can sit in the camper and watch tv, eat cake and be fat and happy. Molly has a friend coming home from school with her to go camping with us so for sure things won't be quiet.

Vet

Just called the Vet's office and talked to his secretary ... she told me to bring Dixie on in at 9:45 this morning, so I'll keep you all posted. Sure hope it's nothing serious, she's been such a great dog in the few days we've had her.

Rain And Sick Puppy, Always Something ...

What a day! Going camping this weekend ..... it's raining and supposed to rain all weekend.
Our new puppy isn't doing to well. I have to try to get her to a Vet this morning. I feel she picked up kennel cough or something from the Humane Society. She went from coughing a little before lunch yesterday to really sick right now. I haven't dealt with a sick puppy before so I have felt helpless trying to take care of her.
Let's hope this Friday 13th gets better ..... not starting off so good for me.

Pretty Good Visit

It was a good doctor visit yesterday. Molly's numbers (lung function) were down a little but not terrible. Oh, she had also gained 4 lbs since Feb. She's up to 100.5 lbs and 5' 3" tall, that's all pretty good for a 12 year old CFer. If she will gain 3 more pounds by her next doctor visit she'll be in the 50th percentile which is a goal they for for people with CF.
We also got the results for the glucose tolerance test she had during her last hospital stay, it came back normal. Thank goodness!
It was such a great feeling to be able to leave that place yesterday after her doctor visit, much better than January and February were when she had to be admitted.

We're going camping this weekend and really excited about that, all except what I saw on the news a few minutes ago. There is something like a 80 and 90% chance of rain for Friday and Saturday. Ughhhhh! Should have known it would do that since we have camping plans, ohhhh well we're going anyway - ole Mister Rain isn't going to scare us away.

Fish Baskets

Yesterday I went with my honey to run the fish baskets in the creek.
It was a pretty day and nice to get out but I don't think I'll be going back with him. We saw a snake curled up on a limb hanging out over the water. Scary! I just don't like snakes. I honestly think I would fall out dead if a snake fell in the boat with me.
He ended up having 50 something catfish all together in the baskets and boxes.
I'm paying the price today for being outside all day yesterday, my allergies have kicked in, couldn't hardly breathe last night and today I'm sneezing my head off. I love Spring but it doesn't love me.
We brought Dixie home yesterday evening, she's loving her new home and we're loving her.
Now I'm off today to take Molly to her CF clinic visit. Fun fun ....
Keep your fingers crossed that she has a great checkup.

Steve pulling up one of the boxes.
The snake is in the center of this picture.
Steve checking another basket, that snake was just a couple of bushes behind him.

He splashed water to scare the snake, it fell down in the water.

Saturday

Yesterday we went back to the Humane Society to visit Dixie. Volunteers had her outside when we got there so we were able to play with her outside for a little while. She was sweet and did really good on the leash.
Logan (my youngest nephew) with Dixie
Tiff and Molly with Dixie
After leaving there we grabbed some lunch from McDonald's and went to the Lock and Dam to eat and walk around and enjoy the pretty day.

Dixie

Today I went to the animal shelter and visited Dixie for a little while. She's such a sweet dog but she is all puppy, she loves to chew and believe me she's got sharp little baby teeth. Hopefully we can break her from that after bringing her home. It will be Monday afternoon before we will be able to break her out of jail to bring her home with us.
I took these pictures of her today during my visit with her.
Today it hit me how she is still a puppy but so big and strong, I'm thinking wow...think when she's full grown what she's gonna be like. I need to get to watching the Dog Whisperer to learn some tips to help train her.

Working The Booths

I woke up at 5am this morning, after carrying Molly to school we headed out to the barn and got busy cleaning, pricing and boxing up things to take to the antique mall. We didn't do any major rearranging there but we did take lots of stuff to fill in all the nooks and crannies. I'm telling you, I'm one tired woman this evening.
