Happy Halloween

Isn't today a good day, it's Halloween and Friday. I really love Fridays, and for no particular reason other than Sat. and Sun. we can sleep a little later. Having a CFer er school mornings begin so early so the weekends are a real treat.

Now that my youngest child is now 12 years old I guess our trick or treat days are over. That's kind of a sad thought but we'll just have to start a new tradition. We're planning on ordering pizza tonight, watching scary movies and camping out in the living room floor on the air mattress. I think we'll have a blast. We might even take a 4 wheeler ride down to the bottom behind our house for a little spooky night time ride.

I think back to my childhood and my memories of trick or treating. Things have sure changed alot over the years. Back when I was a child we didn't go to Walmart to buy our costumes, I remember so clearly me and my friend getting into our mom's, grandmother's, and even dad's closet to pick out funky outfits. One year I was Dolly Parton thanks to one of my mom's bras and some socks. HAHA! We'd often hit our mother's makeup and do something wild with our faces. The black eyeliner worked great to put on a tooth to make it look like you were missing a tooth, ohhhh those were the days.

After getting all decked out we'd head out the door. Parents didn't drive us, we walked around the block ourselves. After returning home we'd dump our candy out and just be amazed at what we had. Back then parents didn't have to check the candy, we knew everyone in the neighborhood and nobody would do anything to hurt a child.

I hate I don't have a picture of me and my best childhood friend on Halloween, it is for sure something I'll always remember even though I don't have a picture.

Halloween Parade

We're still undecided as to what we're going to do this Halloween. I think it would be fun to just stay home, fix some special snacks and watch spooky movies, but I'm afraid Molly is determined to dress up and go out and do something.

She is going to "Trunk or Treat" to help my mother in law give out candy tonight at church so I'm sure she'll enjoy that. I saw my mother in law's trunk yesterday evening it was super cute, today I'll try to take a picture to share with you all. Until then I thought I would post a few pictures from last Halloween. The first picture is of my two youngest nephews: Batman-Landon & Elmo-Logan, the second picture is Molly and the third picture is my sister being silly, maybe she won't shoot me for posting that picture, haha!

Here's The Dress

Wasn't going to show her in the dress to you all before the pageant but going to go ahead now and show you a picture of her when she tried on the dress. Honestly the picture doesn't do it justice, it's a gorgeous dress, the bottom is so full, there are 11 layers. It's gone to the seamstress now to be taken up a little, also she's going to wear a slip underneath, that with her little heels takes care of the dress not being to long.

Molly is in the 7th grade, the age group she'll be in will be 7th - 9th grades. I promise though you just never know what the judges are going to be looking for. Some years the one's that are more made up win and place, other years it's the really simple looking girls that do good. As I said, this is the first formal Christmas pageant, normally it's just Sunday dress. I think last year Molly's dress was too formal, we also got her makeup done at Merle Norman, it was too dark, she didn't place but did great! She did get most photogenic last year.

No matter how things turn out this year she's gonna be beautiful and have fun ... and to her Mama and Daddy she's gonna be the most beautiful little girl in the world, she'll always be our "Little Miss Merry Christmas". :-)

What To Do With Her Hair ?

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was nice, just went by too fast as always.

Friday afternoon we went and bought Molly's dress for the Christmas pageant. This is the first year the pageant is going to be formal so it's going to be different for us. Of course I still feel sick for paying so much for a dress that she's going to wear one time. I don't know about the rest of you but I just don't like pageants. I get so worked up and nervous. I mean to me Molly is so beautiful, not just on the outside but on the inside also. She's got the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. I just don't like paying someone to "pick" their favorite. But Molly really enjoys participating in them so we let her...anyone have a nerve pill I can have around Nov. 13th? ha ha .....

Her dress is beautiful, I would post pictures of her trying it on but I think I'll wait until after the pageant. I can hardly wait, she's so pretty in it...

We are still trying to decide how to do her hair. She normally wears it up for pageants but this year she wants to wear it down, like she wore it for Tiff's wedding. What do you think? Below are two pictures, one from last year at the Christmas pageant, and the next is from Tiff's wedding. I am thinking the one with it down is the best maybe ... even though I had thought up would be best, heck if I know ... can you tell I'm confused? ha ha .... Someone please help, tell us what to do!

What A Doll

Last night we were invited over to my in laws to celebrate my father in law's birthday. Yea to him for him for reaching the big 70 ... We had ribs, dressing, slaw, potato salad and instead of bday cake we had homemade ice cream, everything was yummy!

There was only one thing about the night though, there was this one person that kept stealing the show. People would be trying to talk and this certain person would do something, it just kept getting everyone off track. Let me tell you though, we all loved every minute of it! The special person I'm talking about is our little 3 month old great niece, Madison. Ohhhhhhh goodness, precious isn't the word for what she is. We just love her to death! She's got the cutest smile and the prettiest blue eyes ....... she's just a little doll.

Fall Gala

Last night was the annual Fall Gala at Falkner Antique Mall in Vernon, AL. where we have two booths, Steve and I went and had a great time. Everything looked great and there seemed to be a great turnout. Unfortunately I don't think we did alot of sales but we had a good time anyway. Anyone in this area that likes antiques and has never been there, you should go....Here are a some pictures from the night:

SITS

There is something I have thought about doing for a few weeks now, well I have decided to stop being a lurker and I'm gonna join SITS ( The Secret is in The Sauce). A Fishin' Day

Yesterday was Steve's off day, we had plenty we could have done at home ... but of course it was all work and that's no fun, so we decided to go over to my parent's house and go fishing. Fishing is more fun than work anyday!

This was the last catch of the day, also the smallest! haha ... anyway, see girls you don't have to be afraid to take the fish off the hook it won't hurt ya. We had a big catch of 53 for the day ... supper was sure good last night - fish, fries, hushpuppies, and slaw. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

I just had to show this cat and see if you could guess her name....Ok, notice her tail, then can you see the figure of an "O" on her side, did you guess yet? You're gonna love what my dad has named her, ready for this????? Her name is " O Bobbie" , haha .... isn't that cute! It used to be O Bob till he figured out he was a she.

Working the Booths

One day last week Steve and I finally made it to the antique mall in Vernon to work our booths, oh can't tell you how long it had been since we've gone to do anything to them....back in April I think. I just sorta took a break from it all during the summer, mostly because Molly is always with us and she hates antique malls, she hates going to yard sales, estate sales or auctions to find things for the booths, etc. August and Sept. were really busy months for us, so many other things going on. Anyway, at least it's done now ... Here are a few photos:

Twirly Girly

This past week was spirit week at Wesley and Molly's school. I was a bad mom and didn't get pictures each morning like I wanted to but I do want but I did get a few of Molly out in the yard Thursday afternoon twirling around in her poodle skirt.

She had so much fun dressing up all week and wishes they could do it more. Amazing how such little things can be so much fun for kids, isn't it .... if all of life was so simple.

Here are some pictures from Riverside Park in Columbus, MS. It's really such a beautiful place, of course I love it because it's right on the river and the views of the old and new river bridge are amazing.

Wish she could find one

Sunday we saw a field that had recently been cut up by the lock and dam and we decided to stop and browse through the field to look for arrow heads, I'm sure the field has probably already been searched a million times over throughout the years but you sure won't find one if you don't look, we wish so bad Molly could find at least one arrow head, it would tickle her to death. It's amazing to hear stories from my dad of him finding them when he was a boy growing up near the river in Lamar Co. he used to sell them for 1 cent to a man for movie money, can you imagine ... wish it was that easy these days to find some.

I tried looking some but I had on flip flops, me and dirty feet don't jive, thank goodness for handy wipes, I ended up just sitting in the shade.

Here are Steve and Molly looking. We did find several bits and pieces that look like they could have been parts of arrow heads, but we're not sure.

Country Pumpkins

This past Sunday Steve, Molly and I went to Caledonia, MS. to Country Pumpkins. It's such a neat place, I never knew there were so many different types of pumpkins, squash and gourds.
