Home Sweet Home

Yippy! Molly's doctor visit went pretty good today, her lung function had improved and she had gained 4 lbs in two weeks so we got to come home. Thank goodness!

She had been on Cipro for two weeks, her lung function wasn't as high as it could have been but it was considerably higher than it was two weeks ago so the doctor is having her continue the Cipro another two weeks. She has to go back the end of May.It was a long day sitting and waiting to see the doctor, as if the 2 hour drive to get there wasn't long enough! To show how bored we were and how good Molly was feeling here are a few pictures I took while we were waiting for doctor to come in (which took a while!). They are silly pictures but we were just trying to have fun and pass the time.

Now I get to have fun unpacking and putting away all this stuff. But I'm not complaining, it's great to be home.

Back To Birmingham - CF Clinic

I'm getting ready to take Molly back to Birmingham today for her appointment with the CF doc. Two weeks ago her lung function was down so he put her on oral antibiotics for two weeks. If she has made no improvement today she'll be admitted in the hospital. I have been really busy here trying to get things organized and packed (in case we have to stay). It seems as long as we've been having to take these trips to B'ham and stay in the hospital I'd be a pro at really being neat and organized with my packing. It's still a challenge for me though. This time instead of taking a large suitcase I am taking a plastic 3 drawer thingy on wheels, I have our night clothes, undies, socks, etc. in it. Our other clothes I'm leaving on hangers. I still have our sheets, blankets and other stuff packed up from two weeks ago so all I had to do was load it up.
Oh if Birmingham were only closer to home, I can only imagine how nice it would be to be able to run home and cook meals for us. That is the thing we hate most about being at the hospital - the food!
Ok ...... need to get going, I'll try to post as soon as I can to let you all know if we got to come home or had to stay.

I've Been Bitten, Again...

It's that ole genealogy bug...

Thursday my Honey and I took a little trip over to Itawamba Co. Mississippi to visit a cemetery where I have GG & GGG Grandparents buried, this is the James Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, also known as Cherry Tree Cemetery. My gg grandparents were William Henry Harris 1867-1955 and Nancy Jane Sanderson 1867-1926 and my ggg grandparents were Malden L. Harris (Co K 42 Regt Ala Inf) 1841-1920 and Margret Friday Harris 1842-1917. I love having photos of headstones to go along with my genealogy records, in a way going to visit these sites makes me feel a little closer to these people of the past.

New Chicks

This evening I went outside, I could hear loud peeping. We have 3 hens sitting on eggs so I was expecting to go see baby chicks with their heads stuck out from under their mom instead I found 4 baby chicks (one near death) in a nest box alone. They were cold, apparently the hen had decided to move over in another nest box on other eggs. I got the little chicks and put them in a very large basket I have until we can do better, I put a heat lamp on them. We didn't have chick starter so I just crushed up some laying pellets for them until I can get to town tomorrow to buy some. I checked on them a few minutes ago and the little chick that was near death is now up running around with the other 3 little chicks. Aren't they just cute ...

Home

Just wanted to post really quick that we're home, I was too pooped last night to get on the computer after getting home, that trip just wears me out! Anyway, Molly's lung function was down some but the doctor decided to put her on two weeks of oral antibiotics to see if that would bring it up any. This is rare because this doctor is one that usually puts her in the hospital if it has declined any. I have to take her back in two weeks, hopefully her lung function will have improved, if not then she'll be admitted. I really hope it has improved because May will be a busy month at school, exams, etc. Then again June is going to be a really busy month for us, we have to go to South Carolina the beginning of June then going to the beach the middle of June, sooooooo there really just never is a good convenient time for a hospital stay.

Busy Days

Been a while since I posted, just wanted to let everyone know we're still alive and kicking here.
Today I take Molly to Birmingham for her visit with the CF doctor, everyone wish her luck. As usual we don't know if they'll want to admit her into the hospital or what, depends on her lung function. We think she's doing good but you just never know.

Thirty-Fifth Annual Sports Hall of Fame Banquet

Saturday night Steve and I attended the Millport Sports Hall of Fame Banquet.

Steve was inducted in the Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. This year there were eight new inductees and the 1983 and 1984 WACC Championship Team was also honored. Steve was on this football team. You can just imagine what a big deal this was and still is today, a small town football team winning the state championship two years in a row. Their team was the Millport High School Jr. Tide. This school is no more, it was closed and a new school was built and opened in 1988 (I believe this is the correct year) the school is now called South Lamar.

Below are Steve and his teammates, coaches and two cheerleaders who attended the banquet Saturday night. My husband (Steve) is on the bottom right (as you're looking at the picture), he's helping hold the trophy. I thought is was sweet they had the jersey (#21) there in memory of one of their teammates who has passed away. Oh, we were able to purchase 5 dvd's Saturday night, they are the 83 and 84 football games, this will be exciting for me to watch since his football days were before our time together, I do remember going to Millport to one of their big games but at that time I didn't know Steve so I'll get to watch these dvd's and see my man in action.
