If I Could Go Back In Time

I know if given the chance to go back in time most people would go back and do certain things different in their lives. For me though, if given that chance I don't think I'd change a thing because I believe all things happen for a reason, I would just want go back to meet my ancestors. Since I first began working on my family tree back in 1999 I have just became fascinated with learning all I can about the people who came before me. Some surnames have been so easy to research, others have not been so easy. I sometimes sit and think they're probably up there laughing at me, I mean it's almost as if before they left this world they decided to erase all records of their life here just to make things difficult for the Tracy that was yet to come searching for them. I know that isn't true but if you'd have spent the hours I have working on your family tree you'd use any excuse you could find too.

I have been so amazed to run across people with the same surname I was researching at the time, and ask them their great grandparents names, to hear someone say "I don't know" I'll have to ask so-and-so. I just can't imagine! That is such a sad thing for me to hear. I grew up with parents and grandparents who always shared stories, I guess that is what sparked my interest in it all to begin with. Now that my children are young I know they think I'm crazy for spending the time I do working on my family tree but I truely believe some day after I've left this world there will be one child , grandchild, or maybe even great grandchild who will treasure all my work. That gives me great joy, makes the headaches from reading through page after page of records, the miles spent driving to far away places to get pictures of headstones all worth it.

I urge anyone who doesn't know much about their families to do a little research, I promise you'll be so proud of it.

Pretty Dull Thursday

Today was a pretty dull day, not much went on at all. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. Starting tomorrow Steve will have a couple days off work, which he very much deserves for having to work back on Christmas day. Hopefully we'll find something fun to get into over the weekend.

Tonight Molly and I are gearing up to watch American Idol, I have a favorite picked out already, Michael Johns ! Hopefully the rest of America agrees with me!

CF Clinic

We just returned home a short while ago from our trip to Birmingham today. We had to take Molly to CF clinic for her monthly visit. Things didn't go as we'd hoped, her lung function was down quiet a bit and she had lost a little weight. The doctor sent her home on two different oral antibiotics, we take her back in two weeks, if she hasn't made an improvement by then, they'll be admitting her in the hospital.
Times like this you wonder though, are the oral meds just delaying things, because lots of time it does take the iv antibiotics to really clear her lungs out. Hopefully the oral meds will do the trick and she won't have to spend her spring break in the hospital, that'd for sure be no fun, then again no hospital stay is ever fun, no matter when.

What a Day!

Oh what a day! Last night we discovered our washer had kicked the bucket, can't say we were really surprised, poor thing was so old! Anyway, today we go to Sears, didn't have a big budget, we browsed around, finally decided on one that was a reworked one, it looked brand new and was supposed to work, was a really nice one. Well, my laundry room is so small, its a real pain to get anything in and out of there. We get the old washer out, drag in the new one, hook it all up. Guess what?!?!?! It doesn't spin! Soooooooooo drag it back out, and back to Sears Steve goes with it, this time to get a new one! We learned our lesson! The picture above is about what I feel like tonight! To top everything off, my house is a wreck, and tomorrow is Molly's appointment in B'ham at CF clinic, and I have laundry piling up!
Hopefully Steve will be back soon and I can get some laundry done.
I promise, most of the time if it weren't for bad luck we'd have none at all.

PTO Program

Monday again already, boy the weekends just go by too fast!

Steve had a short day at work today, it was nice having him come home early for a change, I thought he was coming home to see me, then I realized the nascar race was on tv, that's why he came home! haha , to watch it! And I thought I was special.... He really didn't come home just to watch it, I just had to pick at him about watching it.

Anyway, after watching the race he went outside and started working on a picnic table, he is so good and making things, just hard for him to find time the way he works.

Tonight we went to the school for a PTO program, the elementary kids did little skits on presidents and other important people in history. Molly played Jenna Bush, she was scared but did great. The cafeteria really was packed, I was surprised at the crowd for it to be such a small school, great to see all the support the school has. I have attached a photo of Molly on stage, sorry the picture isn't great, I need a new camera!

Wishing For Warmer Days

I had hoped so bad this weekend would be sunny and warm since Steve is off work, should have known though that wouldn't be the case, it's been such a gloomy weekend we have pretty much done absolutly nothing. I say we, I guess I should say I have done pretty much nothing. Steve has worked so hard on little odds and ends things that needed doing around the yard, I tried to help but I'm a wimp when it comes to cool weather, I just can't stand it, I'll pop out every now and then and make an appearance but before long I'm back inside. The picture I attached is one of my quick appearances, I was inspecting some of Steve's work, wasn't expecting to have my picture taken, I really looked scarey, no makeup, etc. Shows what kind of weekend I had though. haha... lazy

These days will pass though and before we know it we'll all be complaining of the 100 degree heat.

Fun Friday

Yesterday morning after getting the kids on the bus Steve and I decided to get ready and hit the road. We did a few things around Columbus before heading to Winfield AL to the antique mall there to do some browsing. It was a real fun day for us both, anytime we're looking at antiques we're both in heaven. We really enjoy little road trips like that, just helps to get away from the everyday routine, especially for me since I'm home so much. On our way home from Winfield I saw the painting attached to this post on a building in Guin, AL (my mom's hometown) and thought it was really neat. This area is their new courtyard, I think they did a great job with it!

We got home late in the day and enjoyed a peaceful night on the couch together watching tv, it was such a fun Friday!

Welcome to my blog

This is going to be my second attempt in the wonderful world of blogging. The first go around I struggled finding things to post, I think I got so caught up in reading everyone else's blogs and of course everyone's lives are so different it kind of threw me off, this time I'm going to do better posting, its gonna be simple and tell of life in the country (hence the blog name), this blog will contain happenings from my everyday life, whether it be spending the day at an antique auction, taking care of our animals (which also includes my chickens,haha), genealogy which I'm so obsessed with, a husband who works way too much, a 21 yr old daughter (Tiffany) getting married in Sept. to Dustin ,a 17 yr old stepson (Dylan) who has grown into such a kind, caring young man, a 16 yr old son (Wesley) that lives and breathes to hunt and fish and has a new obsession now, dirt track racing, or an 11 yr old daughter (Molly) who's a little social butterfly/drama queen living with CF.

Our life is a simple life, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Having a child with CF taught me that material things are nice but what matters most is far from anything material!
I may not live in the fanciest house, I may not drive the fanciest vehicle but what matters most is God, Family and Friends. I have the most wonderful family .... my mother and father in law (Charles and Mary) have been married 50 yrs , they're super people, my parents (Jerry and Mary) have been married 40 yrs and have always been such great parents to me, I'm so proud of them. Molly loves telling people her grandparents are Mary, Mary, Charles and Jerry. haha... For people to keep marriages together as long as they have tells you what kind of people they are.
I have a sweet sister (Pam) and brother in law (Scott) who have blessed me with 4 sweet nephews (Austin Lee, Austin Todd, Landon and sweet little Logan). On my husband's side I have a brother in law (Mike) who has became a great friend of mine over the years and his finance (Tammie) who will become part of our family before long. We have 4 nephews on my husband's side (Chris , Brandon , Lance and Kyle - and 1 great nephew (Austin) and 2 great nieces (Adrian and Sorcha).
